Carnation bike ride

Sunday, September 01, 2002:

The mountain weather forecast was gloomy.  So, I decided to take a bike trip from my house to downtown Carnation and back.  Rather than take a busy road (like Ames Lake Road or Tolt Hill Road), I thought it might be possible to take a shortcut through the Ames Lake Forest and John McDonald Memorial Park.  In fact, it was possible and quite a shortcut...My house is only 4 miles from downtown Carnation on this route...although about 1/2 mile is too steep, narrow, and rough to be bikeable...at least bikebable by me.

Biking is great fun with the dogs.  I can tire them out without expending too much energy myself.

Now, on the way there, we took a wrong turn, got lost, wandered through some very steep trails on private property, and eventually found our way to Tolt Hill road right next to the Snoqualmie River bridge.
